How to protect and refresh curls if you want to workout with curly hair wig and still stay active and still stay healthy without having to wash your hair, after every single time you go to the gym, i actually struggle with this, because it’s not even a lot of steps, just throw my hair up in a bun, that’s why 80% of the time my hair ends up being in the bun on like day three, but because i do work out quite often, i have found a few different things that have really helped me preserve my curls throughout the week.
Protect & Preserve Curls – workout with curly hair wigs
Before i go to the gym, i’m going to tie my hair up, the first thing i’m going to do is throw on a headband, i think this is just like a cotton material, like a t-shirt material to be honest. put this on my head, before i put my headband on, i should secure my hair in a loose bun using a satin scrunchie at the top of my head, then wrap this around like one time, but in order for it to stay secure should use some bobby pins to make sure that it’s not like falling and flopping all over the place, then readjust it when i go to the gym.
After hair stay secure, put the headband on and pin down the headband, because this isn’t one of like those active headbands with that like rubber thing, that’s supposed to stay on your head, i would not suggest using those i don’t use them, because i feel like that rips my hair out and although this may cause some frizz.
It’s not going to rip my hair out, as the reason i like wearing a headband is because i feel like it kind of collects the sweat and all the moisture, that’s going to be on my scalp, you really don’t want to keep your scalp wet for unnecessary amount of time, so i just like to wear this headband.
I also use some bobby pins to make sure that it stays in place, I put some at the back of my head and two in the front and that is really all i have to do for my hair to really stay in place, i might add a few more bobby pins to my actual bun. Okay now so i think that should be good, i’m gonna go ahead downstairs to the gym.

After got back from the gym, should need shower, i just throw a shower cap on top to avoid any extra moisture from the steam, because my hair is already damp, i don’t want to add more moisture to it, when i shower.
After shower, i should take my hair down, everything stayed in place my headband’s still in the same place my bun wasn’t flopping around anywhere, so i think this is a really good way to secure your hair if you have longer hair, if you do have shorter hair you could probably get away with just putting your hair up in a pineapple, but my hair would literally be like in my face and everywhere.
As i take my hair down and try my best to not excessively touch it, just shake it out and let it just like do its thing without running my fingers through it, just like let it be i’m just gonna shake it, after i kind of shake it out, i have some frizz already, but for now i will go in with dry shampo, i don’t want to apply too much, i feel like it can be really easy to apply a lot of dry shampoo, because of the way it comes out.
I do though is kind of flip my hair over, just make sure i’m only applying this on my roots, then just let it sit on my hair for like 10 to 20 minutes and just let it be and not touch my hair just let my hair be let the dry shampoo soak up all that oil and all that moisture from being all sweaty after working out.
Then actually refresh my hair with products, I split my hair in half and just work on one section at a time or one side at a time, first i’m not even gonna wet my hair i’m actually just gonna like wet my hands if i was by the sink, i would just put water in my hands, but i’m just gonna wet my hands and then put the product in my hands.
I’m basically just kind of like diluting the product a little bit, i don’t want to put a whole glob of product and it’s only day two, i’m kind of just going in individually and helping to redefine some of these curls and re-moisturize, just scrunching your hair will kind of help reinforce some of the curls that have been stretched out.
Finished refreshing my hair with the products and it looks really good, then let it air dry and i probably will go in and diffuse it just a little bit, but overall i would say if you’re going to refresh your hair with product try to use the same products that you already used on your wash day and just use a little bit, because you don’t want to end up weighing your hair down you already put more than enough product in your hair on the wash day, you don’t need to put that same amount, so just like dilute the product or just use a very little amount and that should be good.
That’s everything that i do to preserve and protect and refresh my curls when i do work out during the week, i don’t always do this like i mentioned earlier sometimes, i throw my hair up in a bun, but especially if it’s still the beginning of the week, it’s early on in the wash week, i like to do this just so that i’m not wearing my hair in a bun like four days out of seven.
This is really it my hair is looking really good, i do have a little bit of a cast, but i’ll scrunch that out in the morning before work, i’m just gonna go ahead and tie my hair up in a scarf, it is protected overnight and go to bed and my curls should look perfectly fine in the morning.
